P.A.W.S. L.A. HOSTS CELEBRITY ART AUCTION
Los Angeles, November 1999- For ten years P.A.W.S. L.A. (Pets Are Wonderful Support) has recognized the unconditional love provided by companion animals and has been dedicated to enriching the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS by empowering them to keep and care for their beloved pets. This year's celebrity studded art auction, held on November 7, at the El Rey Theatre, raised over $100,000. Among the celebrities present were Anjelica Houston, Greg Gorman, John Shlesinger, and Kathy Najimy.
Dozens of artists donated works to the event including David Hockney, Bruce Weber, and Philip Hitchcock whose arresting "Male Torso" sculpture fetched an impressive $1000. for the cause.
